Li Hongyan joined ESI as a Research fellow in July 2023. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Economics at the National University of Singapore in August 2023. Previously, she worked as a part-time student researcher at ESI. Before doing her Ph.D., she received her bachelor’s degree in finance from Shandong University in 2017.

Hongyan’s role will focus on the critical intersection of carbon pricing and climate finance. Her main research areas are environmental & energy economics and applied microeconomics. Her Ph.D. research contributes to a deeper understanding of how economic agents respond to external environmental shocks and the impact of policies, with a particular emphasis on environmental and labor issues specific to Singapore.
