The 5th Asian Energy Modelling Workshop took place at the Park Avenue Rochester Hotel in Singapore between September 10 and 11, 2018. This is a regular event under ESI’s energy modelling programme, organized by Dr Su Bin, ESI Senior Research Fellow, Dr. Li Yingzhu, ESI Research Fellow and Dr. Zhong Sheng, ESI Research Fellow. This year’s workshop follows the previous series of workshops since 2014, broadly covering important topics on policy reforms, climate change, carbon market, and sustainable development.

Workshop participants include some 50 students, researchers and business experts from universities, research institutions and private sector. In total, fifteen experienced and distinguished speakers from major research institutions in ten countries across the world were invited to share their research related to Asia and beyond in the workshop. The presence, insights, and participation of all participants contributed greatly to the quality and rigor of the discourse in the workshop. As a follow-up event, ESI partnered with the IEA-ETSAP group to organize a training on the applications of VEDA-TIMES at the ESI conference room between September 12 and 14, 2018.
