Conference on Green Transformation and Competitive Advantage

Dr. Zhong Sheng, ESI Research Fellow and Dr. Dina Azhgaliyeva, ESI Research Fellow, were invited to participate in a two-day conference in Bonn, Germany from 18 – 19 June 2018, titled Green Transformation and Competitive Advantage: Evidence from Developing Countries.  The event was jointly organized the German Development Institute / Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik (DIE), Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP), and Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

Conference participants include researchers from academia, think tanks, the OECD, the United Nations, the World Bank, and other international development agencies. At the workshop, participants discussed various policy, regulatory, technical, and financial aspects of green transformation, and the economic co-benefits and costs during the transformation. At the event, Dr. Zhong Sheng gave a presentation titled Exploring Technological Trajectories and Technological Catch-Up in Solar Energy: Evidence from Patent Data, chaired by Jose Luis Samaniego, director of UN-ECLAC.

Dr. Dina Azhgaliyeva gave a presentation titled the Determinants of Energy Efficiency and the Role of Policy: Empirical Evidence from Developing Countries, chaired by Ambuj Sagar from IIT Delhi.
