Participation in the World Engineers Summit 2017

Four members of the ESI-CIL Nuclear Governance Project’s team participated in a special panel session on nuclear energy as part of the World Engineers Summit 2017 – Applied Energy Symposium and Forum: Low Carbon Cities and Urban Energy (WES-CUE 2017) Joint Conference on 21 July 2017 in Singapore. The Conference was attended by engineers and scientists from multiple disciplines, energy specialists, urban planning specialists, environmental and water specialists, academia, financiers, manufacturers, policy makers, researchers and business leaders from diverse industries around the world in Singapore.

ESI Research Fellow, Dr Victor Nian, presented on “Global developments in advanced reactor technologies and international cooperation”.

ESI Senior Principal Fellow and Principal Investigator of the Nuclear Governance Project, Dr Philip Andrews-Speed, presented on “Factors Shaping the Outlook for Nuclear Energy”.

CIL Senior Research Fellow, Anthony Wetherall, presented on “International Legal Framework for the Safe, Secure and Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy: Recent Developments”.

ESI Research Associate, Nur Azha Putra, presented on “The Southeast Asian dynamics in nuclear energy”.

The session was chaired by Dr Nian. Over 60 Conference participants attended this session.
