ESI Attends The International Energy Efficiency Day 2017

ESI Senior Fellow and Deputy Head of the Energy and the Environment Division, Dr. Su Bin was recently invited to speak as a panellist at International Energy Efficiency Day 2017. The seminar was jointly organised by the Institute for Policy, Advocacy, and Governance (IPAG), in association with the government of Bangladesh's Hydrocarbon unit, Energy & Mineral Resources Division on March 5, 2017 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The event brought together key policymakers, academics, business leaders, as well as national and international experts under one platform to impart, deliberate, and discuss on the best practices of energy efficiency around the world. Dr. Su was joined by experts from India and China in making keynote presentations during the event to share best practices in their sectors. The inaugural Programme was attended by Nasrul Hamid MP, State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resource, Government of Bangladesh, Nazimuddin Chowdhury, Secretary, Energy & Mineral Resources Division, Government of Bangladesh, and Prof. Syed Munir Khasru, Chairman, IPAG. A short video prepared by IPAG was screened at the inaugural session which helped trace the roots of the Energy Efficiency Day and highlighted the needs for energy efficiency in Bangladesh.

Dr. Su Bin and Ms. Melissa Low, a research fellow at ESI also contributed a chapter, “Energy Efficiency Policy for Sustainable Economic Growth in Singapore” in a book titled “Energy Efficiency: Prevalent Practices & Policy Perspectives”. The book was published to equip policymakers with the ability to make informed decisions for promoting energy efficiency practices in Bangladesh. The book was formally unveiled and presented at the seminar to delegates, policy makers, and participants from the industry.
