Climate Actions and Sustainable Development – Where Are We Now?

Date: Thursday, 16 August 2018

Time: 4.30 – 7.30pm

Venue: Courtyard Room, Marina Barrage

Synopsis

Singapore has designated 2018 to be its Year of Climate Action. In July, Singapore participated in the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) and presented its first Voluntary National Review (VNR). The VNR presents Singapore’s domestic and international efforts to implement the 2030 Agenda. The Energy Studies Institute is partnering with the NUS Office of Environmental Sustainability (OES) and National Youth Council (NYC) to take stock of climate action and sustainable development thus far. This event will begin with a concurrent screening of the documentary Before the Flood by longtime environmental advocate Leonardo DiCaprio and a guided tour of the new Sustainable Singapore Gallery which was launched on 2 June 2018 at the Marina Barrage. Following which, a dialogue will convene where speakers will present the science of climate change, progress made in Singapore’s Year of Climate Action and a youth perspective on the Sustainable Development Goals.

As the documentary screening and guided tour of the Sustainable Singapore Gallery are happening concurrently, registrants should indicate in the comments box during registration which they intend to join.
