You are cordially invited to

AN ENERGY OPTIMIZATION TOOL FOR A SUSTAINABLE ENERGY
FUTURE

a seminar by
by
Professor Milorad Bojic

Director of the Centre for Heating, Air Conditioning and Solar Energy,
Mechanical Engineering Faculty, University of Kragujevac, Republic of Serbia

Monday, 7 April 2008
10.00 am to 12.00 noon
ESI Conference Room
29 Heng Mui Keng Terrace
Block A,   #10-01

Abstract

The speaker will review the many issues involved in the world’s reaching a sustainable energy future. He will describe a new software tool called  “LOpt” which can be used to help reach this goal:

  • multi-objective functions of LOpt
  • data and run manager of LOpt
  • LEAP: a simulation tool
  • GenOpt: an optimization tool
  • input into the software
  • optimisation: managing data and a run
  • e.g. 1: electricity for heating domestic hot water in Serbia
  • e.g. 2: three options for heating domestic hot water in Serbia
  • conclusions

Speaker

Prof. Bojic is currently Director of the Centre for Heating, Air Conditioning and Solar Energy in the Mechanical Engineering Faculty, University of Kragujevac. He has a BSc in Mechanical
Engineering from Belgrade University (1974), MSc from University of Syracuse, New York (1977) and a Sci. Dr. from Kragujevac University, Yugoslavia (1984). Since 1995, he has been a full professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Kragujevac, Department of Energy and Process Engineering, working in the fields of thermodynamics, heating, air conditioning, and solar energy.

In 1997 and 2001-2002 he was a Visiting Professor at Nagoya University, Japan, and in 2002/2003, an Honorary Professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His main research is in energy simulation and optimisation for energy recovery, efficiency and environmental friendliness, and renewable energy applications for the minimisation of global and local pollution.

He has authored more than 200 publications. Of these, about 56 are articles in international journals. He is an elected member of the Serbian Scientific Society and the Serbian Academy of Engineering Sciences. He is also Associate Editor of Energy International, published by Pergamon, and an editorial board member of the International Journal for Nuclear Energy Governance, Economy and Ecology published by Inderscience.
