Abstract
As we are daily reminded of how fragile and volatile our globe is, we have become aware of how we need to accommodate to this changing environment. Climate change is a pressing concern, making energy efficiency and “green” politics an imperative in everyday life. In light of the “COP 15” taking place in Copenhagen in December, the Royal Embassy of Denmark would like to present here in Singapore the Danish way of raising energy efficiencies and reducing CO2 emissions .
While the Danish economy has grown approximately 75 per cent over the past 25 years, domestic energy consumption has remained constant and CO2 emissions have decreased. This has made Denmark one of the world’s most energy efficient economies. Denmark has not only improved its use of renewable energy, but has also reduced waste and greenhouse gases. The experiences and solutions advanced by the Danish private and public sectors have become an important Danish export.
