Conference on US Energy Policy and Business Opportunities: Unified Utilities, Energy Efficiency Systems and DC Networks

ESI and ISEAS cordially invite you to a 
Conference on US Energy Policy and Business Opportunities: 
Unified Utilities, Energy Efficiency Systems and DC Networks

Dr. Michael Quah, Visiting Principal Fellow (ESI) and Visiting Fellow (ISEAS) from USA, and Mark Hong, Visiting Research  Fellow (ISEAS) will introduce several speakers from several companies in the US working on new business developments in the area of Unified Utilities projects internationally and in the areas of Energy Efficiency Systems, which include  DC Networks.  These companies will not only discuss new technology innovations but will also meet up with interested potential partners and customers.

10:30 a.m. Introductions and Panel Discussion

                    The Obama American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan:  What 
                    It Could Mean for Singapore and the Region?
(ESI) will feature a 
                    panel discussion on possible effects of US policy on economic developments
                    in alternative and renewable energy technologies, including EVs (Electric Vehicles).

                    Unified Utilities and Infrastructure (Global Smart Infrastructures, 
                    an alliance of 8 companies in G70, LockheedMartin, BAE Systems, 
                    Enernex, Universal Asset Management, Global Smart Energy, Terrapin Bright Green,
                    and Cook + Fox Architects) will focus on Creating Sustainable Smart Communities.

1:30 p.m.   Afternoon Session 1

                    DC Power Networking in Buildings (Nextek Power) will feature an 
                    overview of DC power applications, generating sources, and the 
                    current state of the art globally.

                    Future-Proofing Cities: Can We Improve Reliability & Efficiency?  (Houston
                    Advanced Research Centre), where the impact of weather, population density, and
                    disaster planning for cities will be discussed using “smart grid” approaches along
                    with the implementation of distributed generation technologies to increase resiliency
                    during grid failure.

3:30 p.m.  Tea Break

4.00 p.m.  Afternoon Session 2

                    Who’s In Control?  (Johnson Controls) will feature a current round-up of the rapidly
                    changing building controls arena, including a discussion of permissioning,
                    protocols and the ever greater efficiency demands put on controls systems.

                    Was Thomas Edison Right? on AC/DC issues (The EMerge Alliance) will explore
                    what the Wizard of Menlo Park would have thought about current developments in
                    DC systems.  Some insights on the Clinton Global Initiative will also be discussed.
