About the Seminar
Southeast Asia ’ s first nuclear power plant is likely to come on line in 2020. Among the ASEAN countries, Singapore is also considering the viability of nuclear energy for its electricity generation. However, bringing in nuclear energy could pose considerable challenges for the nation. This presentation explores the technology, economics and policies of nuclear energy, and focuses on a multilateral approach that can be used to address the current concerns and issues associated with nuclear energy.
About the speaker

Dr. Alvin Chew is an independent consultant working in the field of nuclear energy in Southeast Asia. He is an Adjunct Fellow at the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies ( RSIS ) , where he teaches a course entitled, ‘ Strategic Industries and Technology Planning ” in their MSc programme.
