The seminar will provide an overview of New Zealand’s recent progress in developing policies and implementing programmes to advance energy efficiency and renewable energy in its economy. This will include an overview of the recently released draft New Zealand Energy
Efficiency and Conservation Strategy (NZEECS) and EECA’s current programmes to enhance energy efficiency and renewable energy
About the Speaker
Darren Baars is a Principal Analyst at the New Zealand Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), based in Wellington. He has over 15 years of experience working in the public and private sectors on a range of energy policy, transport and resource management issues and has spent the last 5 years working on energy efficiency and renewable energy policy development and programme design. Darren holds Bachelors and Masters degrees (with distinction) in environmental planning from Massey University, with a specialisation in environmental economics.
