ESI Hosts 40th International Conference of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE)

The Energy Studies Institute (ESI), National University of Singapore (NUS) organised the 40th International Conference of the International Association of Energy Economics (IAEE) in Singapore at Marina Bay Sands from 18 to 21 June 2017. The main theme was Meeting the Energy Demands of Emerging Economies: Implications for Energy and Environmental Markets.

IAEE Conferences attract delegates from the most influential government, corporate, and academic energy decision‐making institutions from around the world. The conference in Singapore saw 400 delegates from more than 40 countries gathered in Singapore to discuss the pressing issues related to energy markets, including how they affect energy security and the environment. This is the first time an IAEE event took place here and the NUS Energy Studies Institute is honoured to organise and host this milestone event on behalf of Singapore, which takes place on the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the NUS Energy Studies Institute.

The Conference was graced by Guest of Honour, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, Masagos Zulkifli, who gave the Opening Address in the morning of Monday, 19 June 2017. Professor Chou Siaw Kiang, Executive Director of the NUS Energy Studies Institute and Professor Ricardo Raineri Bernain, President of IAEE, delivered Welcome Remarks. Dr. Keisuke Sadamori, Director of Energy Markets and Security, International Energy Agency, delivered the Keynote Address.
