ADVERTISEMENT ON RESEARCH FELLOW (ENERGY ECONOMICS)

The Energy Studies Institute (ESI) is a research institute in the National University of Singapore seeking to advance the understanding of energy policy issues by conducting independent research and analysis. We have a vacancy for a researcher with a PhD in the field of  economics. They will join a multi-disciplinary team carrying out research projects in energy economics and policy.

Requirements

  • A PhD degree in the field of economics/econometrics, public policy, statistics, engineering, physical sciences, or other relevant disciplines.
  • A good understanding of the energy sector, especially in the context of power generation, energy efficiency, energy trading market, renewable energy market, or electricity system modelling.
  • Strong analytical capability, quantitative skills and writing ability.
  • A proven track record of publications in leading economics/energy economics journals.
  • Experience in electricity system modelling tools is an asset.
  • Work experience in energy policy is an asset.
  • A strong written and oral command of the English language.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Job Scope

  • Conduct research on the topics of energy economics and policy, such as energy efficiency, electricity markets, and renewable energy markets as agreed with the Head of Division.
  • Work as part of a team to produce project reports on topics assigned by the Head of Division.
  • Carry out administrative tasks, including the organising of seminars, workshops and conferences, as well as other general tasks assigned by the Head of Division and the Executive Director.
